Here are my 10 years worth of observations. They do not allow dogs, not even in the dreary uninviting garden where you will be able to relax to the sound of the traffic from the A2 & Blendon Roundabout. The Anchor, half a mile away with a nice atmosphere and good food will be happy to see your dog. There is no atmosphere, it is soulless. The staff seem to think they are actually doing you a favour by serving you.Do not dare to sit at the usually wet bar even if it is empty, they will probably bar you, likewise if you dare to complain about anything.Do not bother asking for a beer mat, they are a rarity.Regularly run out of beer.Don’t bother with the cocktail promotions they are limited and the ingredients and straws are often unavailable, they sometimes suggest you get your own ingredients from the Coop opposite.Drug abuse/dealing is turned a blind eye to & even tolerated, I have found empty cocaine wraps in the toilets and reported them & still no action taken. While on the subject of toilets (I can only speak about the Men’s) they are rarely cleaned, usually filthy, smelly and at least one urinal out of use, don’t think I have ever seen toilet paper in the cubicle. There has been a problem with the plumbing for all the years I have been going there which they are reluctant to address.I have witnessed a chef (I use the term lightly) leave the toilets without washing their hands, I have also seen the chef clearing rubbish from the car park. Most of the beer glasses are so old the widgets in the glass do not work.Do not ask for a different glass or you will be met with raised eyebrows.I have regularly suffered stomach problems the day after drinking here. The bollard at entrance has been broken & a trip hazard for over 2 years, I cannot believe they have not had a claim yet.If you park your car in the car park don’t forget to register it or you can expect an expensive lunch/dinner. The manager here likes to leave her own reviews. As do the staff.
